A 12 year-old girl who ran away from home and was nearly abducted has prompted increased police patrols around Clearwater High School in light of the incident Monday night.
After an argument with her parents, the girl, who has medical issues, ran off. She is not being identified because of the nature of the incident.
The girl was near Clearwater High School when an unknown suspect made contact with her, pulling her into some trees near the concession area around 10:45 p.m., according to police.
The suspect made the girl sit on his lap while he made sexually charged statements, investigators said.
The girl managed to break free around the same time a witness was walking by and helped her, police said.
That’s when the suspect fled. He is described as a black male in his 30s with a beard who was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and black pants.
