Slidell City Council members on Tuesday decided to fund the municipality’s matching portion of a $1.5 million grant to overhaul the marina at Heritage Park on Bayou Bonfouca and authorized Mayor Freddy Drennan’s administration to accept the federal grant. The Camellia City in January was awarded the money as part of the U.S. Fish Wildlife Service’s Boating Infrastructure Grant, or BIG, program.
