St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Jack Strain says his office will slightly decrease the millage rate used to calculate his agency’s property tax revenue this year. In a news release issued Friday, the sheriff pointed out that his office has not rolled its millage forward for the past several years. The Sheriff’s Office will collect at a rate of 11.66 mills this tax year, down from 11.73 mills in 2011. The millage, reduced to keep it revenue-neutral, is expected to generate about $18 million, the agency said.
